The councilor delegate for Sports, Martín de la Torre, highlighted the municipal commitment to sports and active tourism through this new initiative. The TRC offers permanent routes in the natural environment of Linares, accredited and homologated, for both beginner and experienced runners.
Currently, the city features three marked routes: the Green Route (12.70 km, 152 m positive elevation gain), the Blue Route (18.70 km, 227 m elevation gain), and the Red Route (24.47 km, 313 m positive elevation gain). Use is free, requiring only registration via the 'Senderos del Plomo' website and downloading a mobile app for GPS-guided navigation.
The councilor explained that the project extends beyond the routes, offering a complete experience. The start and finish area, located at the Madrid Station and near the Mining Landscape Interpretation Center, includes ample free parking and a motorhome parking area, services appreciated by sports and nature tourism enthusiasts.
Additionally, the Athlete Assistance Center has been established at the Municipal Sports Center San José. Here, runners can receive personalized information and use changing rooms and showers free of charge, enhancing their experience.
Martín de la Torre noted the project's timely launch, given the growth of trail running and associated sports tourism. The addition of these three routes in Linares, alongside those in the Sierra de Cazorla, positions the city as a provincial leader in the discipline.
The councilor concluded that the initiative reinforces the commitment to sports, healthy habits, tourism promotion, and valuing the natural environment. The Linares Trail Running Center invites visitors to discover the city by combining physical activity, mining heritage, and nature, solidifying its status as a key destination for Andalusian sports tourism.
