Galloper will resume its presence in Spain more than twenty years after its commercial cessation. The firm, which began its journey in the country in 1998 with models derived from the Mitsubishi Montero, will return to selling vehicles from October, backed by a Spanish-capital company.
The brand's new era will debut with a five-door SUV and a pickup truck. Both vehicles will share a robust ladder chassis, designed for both professional and private use, although the primary market is anticipated to be the former.
The commercial names for these new models, which will be inspired by Spain's mountainous geography, will be revealed in September. The technical platform used has accumulated marketing experience in various international markets.
Under the hood, both vehicles will feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine of Mitsubishi origin, producing 220 HP. This powertrain will be paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with a reduction gear. The four-wheel-drive system, developed by BorgWarner, will include rear differential locking and a steering function to improve maneuverability.
Vehicle manufacturing will be carried out by Coronet under license from Dongfeng Zhengzhou. Coronet is also involved in the reactivation of Santana Motors in Linares (Jaén), collaborating with Zhengzhou Nissan on the production of off-road vehicles.
Regarding the commercial network, Galloper will start with 35 dealerships in Spain, aiming to expand to 60 points of sale before the end of the year. A spare parts warehouse will be established in Barcelona to serve the network.
The warranty offered will be three years, with the possibility of extension up to six years or 150,000 kilometers. The company is also exploring the feasibility of assembly operations in Spain and the development of versions adapted for LPG and mild-hybrid systems for future Eco labels.
