The Department of Municipal Works and Services in Bailén has initiated the Bailén Rural Roads Improvement Program 2026, aimed at conditioning and enhancing the state of various rural roads within the municipality. The interventions will focus on the Camino de Linares, Camino de la Colá, Camino de Villanueva de la Reina, Camino de Casa Pajares, Camino de Casa Medina, Camino de Galapurdí, Camino de Pozo Palomo, and Camino de los Cuarterones.
Bartolomé Morales, Councilor for Municipal Works and Services, emphasized the importance of these works for maintaining rural roads in optimal condition, which are essential for the transit of residents and farmers. The first route to undergo work will be the Camino de Linares, which will be temporarily closed from the ford near the company Magahumiter, an area that will also be improved.
Users of the Camino de Linares are requested to pay attention to signage and follow instructions during the construction period to ensure safety and the smooth progress of the works. The councilor asked for understanding and cooperation, assuring that efforts will be made to minimize disruptions.
The program includes improvements tailored to the specific needs of each road. While high-traffic routes like the Camino de Casa Medina will receive maintenance, others with less usage, such as the Camino de Pozo Palomo, will be conserved to ensure their optimal condition. The project also involves the creation of structures like concrete slabs, ditches, and fords to enhance the roads' resistance to adverse weather conditions, improving water drainage.
The projection is for all interventions to be completed within approximately one month, before the start of the olive harvest season. The objective is for the upcoming harvest to take place with better-conditioned roads and structures prepared for potential inclement weather. The Department of Municipal Works and Services highlights the significance of maintaining the rural road network, which is fundamental for agricultural activity and access to farms.
