The Bailén City Council, through the Department of Youth and the Local Youth Council of Bailén, has launched a new edition of the Bailén Young People Awards 2026. These awards aim to publicly recognize the talent, trajectory, commitment, and contribution of the town's young people in different areas of society.
The Councilor for Youth, Lorena Linares, highlighted that the awards are an opportunity to "give a face and visibility to so many young people from Bailén who, from different fields, work, create, undertake, help others, and contribute to the development of our city." She added that they seek to be a recognition of those who represent "the present and future of Bailén" and a way for society to know and value their work.
Young people aged between 14 and 35 on November 27, 2026, who were born in or are habitual residents of Bailén, are eligible for the awards. The jury will evaluate merits and trajectory in the categories of Art and Culture / Music; Young Entrepreneur; Young Humanitarian; Young Athlete; Young Scientist; Young for Bailén; Youth Collective; and the ‘Felipe de Neve’ Award, for individuals over 35 who work or have worked for the benefit of Bailén's youth.
Nominations, which can be proposed by public or private entities or individuals, must be submitted in writing to the President of the Local Youth Council of Bailén. Documentation should be delivered to the Casa de la Juventud (Youth House) from October 13 to 30, 2026, during morning hours (11:00 AM to 2:00 PM) and afternoon hours (5:00 PM to 9:00 PM). Proposals must detail the merits and reasons for considering the proposed person or group worthy, avoiding identifying data to ensure anonymity during the evaluation process.
Lorena Linares encouraged associations, entities, and individuals to "look around us and think about those young people who stand out for their effort, capacity, solidarity, creativity, or commitment to Bailén," emphasizing the importance of not focusing solely on those with greater public visibility.
The jury, composed of members of the Local Youth Council and professionals from various fields, will deliberate and decide the winners. Their decision will be final, and categories may be left vacant if requirements are not met. The tie-breaking vote will correspond to the jury president.
The awards ceremony for the Bailén Young People Awards 2026 will take place on November 27, 2026, in a public event organized by the Local Youth Council of Bailén, to be held in the Auditorium of the Casa de la Cultura (House of Culture). The Councilor for Youth noted that the gala will also be "a moment to celebrate the youth of Bailén, their achievements, and publicly recognize those who are contributing their talent and effort to our society."
