The festival, with over half a century of history, brought renowned artists such as Israel Fernández, Aurora Vargas, and El Pele to the stage, alongside local dancer Fina La Churruca. This Málaga festival has hosted performances by flamenco legends throughout its history.
The master of ceremonies, Salvador de la Peña, opened the evening by remembering two iconic flamenco figures who recently passed away and were connected to the festival: Antonio Fernández Díaz, «Fosforito», and José Domínguez Muñoz, «El Cabrero».
The night featured performances by the Sevillian singer Miguel Ángel Lara, «El Canario», accompanied on guitar by Manuel Jesús Carrillo, and by Manuel Moreno Maya, «El Pele», whose performance was one of the most acclaimed.
During the event, the Ojén City Council presented the Castillo de Oro award to six residents in recognition of their dedication to the festival. The mayor presented the award posthumously to Juan Sánchez Márquez and honored Juan Gómez Pacheco, Andrés Gómez Sánchez, Cristóbal Moreno Cuevas, Francisco Manuel Vázquez Suárez, and Bernabé Gómez Zumaquero. The work of Daniel Espada Cerón, creator of the event's poster, was also recognized.
Subsequently, singer Aurora Vargas, accompanied by guitarist El Perla, delivered a recital covering various styles of cante jondo.
One of the night's highlights was the performance by singer Israel Fernández, supported by guitarist Diego del Morao, who received a warm ovation.
Ojén's dancer, Fina La Churruca, closed the evening, marking her second participation in the festival. The 51st edition of Castillo del Cante reaffirmed its role as a meeting point for flamenco's greatest figures and for honoring those who have shaped its history in Ojén.
