Aracena is preparing to welcome the summer with the anticipated 'El Centro en Fiestas' celebration, starting this weekend and marking the beginning of July with an extensive cultural program. The historic streets of the town center will become open-air stages hosting music, parades, batucada, ballroom dancing, and water and children's attractions.
In total, 21 free concerts by local groups and artists have been scheduled, along with dance exhibitions and activities for the youngest attendees. These events will be spread across six stages set up by the Aracena City Council, bringing the city to life for three days and attracting both residents and visitors.
The musical offerings span various genres such as flamenco, hip-hop, rock, pop, folk, jazz, and classical music, which will sound throughout the center of Aracena, consolidating this celebration as a deeply rooted event in the annual cultural programming.
Manuel Guerra, the mayor of Aracena, highlighted that 'El Centro en Fiestas' is a significant date on the town's festive calendar. The City Council has made a substantial commitment, coordinating with all municipal services and collaborating with 21 local establishments to ensure a celebration for all audiences.
An enhancement of resources has been implemented, including a specific cleaning plan and a traffic plan coordinated by the Local Police, to facilitate vehicle transit and transform the historic center into a pedestrian space for enjoyment and coexistence.
The mayor also emphasized the work of the volunteers from the Casa de la Juventud (Youth House), young people trained and wearing their characteristic yellow t-shirts, who provide essential support for the sound and operation of the stages.
This year's poster for 'El Centro en Fiestas', created by Ignacio Alcaría, pays tribute to the 150th anniversary of the Fuente de San Julián and to Julián Romero de la Osa, a benefactor resident and an iconic figure of Aracena's monumental heritage.
