The Junta de Andalucía has granted a special mention to the families of Ronda and Grazalema within the framework of the VI Andalusian Family Awards 2026. This recognition highlights the exemplary attitude of both communities in the face of the intense rains in February, which led to the forced evacuation of Grazalema residents.
The distinction praises the courage and resilience of Grazalema families, who were forced to leave their homes due to adverse weather conditions. Similarly, the solidarity shown by Ronda families, who provided shelter and protection to their evacuated neighbors, is also commended.
“"Today you are two towns that form one big family."
The Minister of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality of the Junta, Loles López, presided over the awards ceremony, which are presented on the occasion of the International Day of Families, celebrated on May 15. The minister highlighted the reception efforts of Ronda residents for those from Grazalema as a "great example of what Andalucía is."
This annual call from the ministry seeks to recognize individuals, families, groups, and public and private entities that significantly contribute to the promotion and defense of family diversity in Andalucía. Other honorees included the 'Yo No Renuncio' association, the Association in Family by Right, the Order of San Juan de Dios, and the Granada City Council, among others.
