The Minister of Presidency and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, announced late Monday the reopening of the provincial road CA-9123, which had been closed on Tuesday due to the fire in the El Alamillo area. Of the 188 residents preventively evacuated, 92 have been able to return to their homes in the Ribera area.
Sanz detailed that the fire has affected 222 hectares, although there are interior areas that have not suffered severe damage, especially the high-value cork oak groves. The A-372 road remains closed to facilitate extinction efforts and ensure safety.
During the night, 60 EMA Infoca personnel and five water trucks worked in the area. A morning analysis of the evolution is expected, pointing towards a favorable outcome. "More than half of the fire can be considered stabilized," stated Sanz, highlighting the significant progress and the priority action on the right flank due to the potential change in wind.
The minister congratulated the Infoca team for their effective work, which prevented a much more unfavorable outcome. The evacuated residents were taken to Zahara de la Sierra, where the mayor, Carlos García, indicated that the affected area consists of woodland, particularly cork oaks, which had already suffered significant devastation about 50 years ago.
