The new sports infrastructure, located on Camino Paseo Arroyo Vinatero, was inaugurated in an event attended by the Deputy of Culture, Vanesa Beltrán; the mayor of Algar, José Carlos Sánchez Barea; the territorial delegate for Rural Development of the Regional Government, Fran Moreno, and the mayor of El Bosque, Rubén Corrales. The construction involved a total investment of 1,681,568 euros, largely funded by the Provincial Council of Cádiz through various programs, with a 100,000 euro subsidy from the Regional Government of Andalusia. The works were carried out in five phases since January 2022.
Vanesa Beltrán highlighted that the new facility "enlivens the town's life" and emphasized the Provincial Council's commitment to the well-being of small municipalities, aiming for equal opportunities. She also praised the transformation of Algar and mentioned support for other projects like the recovery of the rural complex Tajo del Águila.
José Carlos Sánchez Barea expressed the government team's satisfaction in achieving this goal for the 1,400 residents of Algar, stating that "our commitment is to achieve dignified and quality facilities, as well as future prospects for the entire population." The covered pavilion complements the existing indoor futsal court and outdoor paddle tennis courts.
The construction presented technical challenges, as the site was a former landfill. Piles up to 16 meters deep were used to secure the foundation. The main rectangular building covers 1,150 square meters for sports activities, with an adjacent area housing changing rooms, storage, and restrooms, totaling 1,400 square meters.
Following the ceremony, the pavilion hosted a futsal triangular tournament featuring CD Algareñse (Segunda Andaluza), Xerez Toyota Nimauto (Segunda División RFEF), and Alchoyano (Tercera División RFEF).
The inaugural event also included the territorial delegate for Public Works of the Regional Government, Carmen Sánchez; the mayor of Cádiz, Bruno García, and national deputy Pedro Gallardo. Journalist Fernando García hosted the event, recalling the contribution of Ezequiel Montero ‘Zequi’, a player for Córdoba Futsal.
