The Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, through the social media channels of the Filmoteca de Andalucía, has announced the cinematic lineup for this week. The screenings, mostly with free admission until full capacity, offer the option of prior reservation or symbolic prices, often accompanied by discussions and book presentations.
In Seville, the Teatro Central will host the screening of Carol, directed by Todd Haynes. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, with free admission upon prior reservation via the theater's website. The evening will begin at 6:30 PM with a conversation between a cultural manager and curator and an author of cinematic works, followed by the screening at 7:30 PM in original version.
Released in the United Kingdom in 2015, Carol is a drama set in 1950s New York. The plot follows Therese Belivet, a young shop assistant, and Carol Aird, a sophisticated woman trapped in an unhappy marriage, whose connection transforms their lives. The film has received multiple nominations for Oscars and Golden Globes, and one of its protagonists was awarded Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015.
The Filmoteca de Andalucía, established in 1987, is an institution of the Junta de Andalucía dedicated to the conservation, study, and dissemination of Andalusian cinematic heritage. Its functions include the preservation, restoration, and cataloging of works, as well as the organization of screenings, cycles, discussions, and educational activities. Although its main headquarters are in Córdoba, it also carries out activities in cities such as Granada, Seville, and Almería.
