The electrical discharge hit the pantograph of a train on the Pamplona-Madrid line, causing damage to the infrastructure and affecting the overhead catenary, which had to be repaired by Adif teams.
As a consequence, an AVE train with around 200 passengers on board was stopped on the track awaiting updates. The incident resulted in average delays of about 20 minutes for all subsequent services through the affected area.
Renfe reported that trains resumed service as soon as possible, noting damage to the train's "on-board traction equipment" on the affected Alvia. The company thanked passengers for their understanding during the resolution of the incident.
