Those interested in local art and culture have a last chance to visit The Sevillaner exhibition, which will remain open to the public until the end of this week. The exhibition is located at the Maravilla Social Club and features a selection of nine works in A5 format, an unusual size that, for now, is only available for purchase at this venue in the city.
The The Sevillaner project draws inspiration from the iconic covers of The New Yorker, a publication that originated in 1925 and became famous for portraying the life and eccentricities of New York. Nearly a century later, the Sevillian illustrator Antonio Copete adapted this concept to create a very unique version of the covers, but set in the Andalusian capital.
The initiative emerged from an academic exercise and was inspired by The Parisianer project, which had already adapted the concept to Paris. The Sevillaner has established itself as a collective project that invites local artists and illustrators to express their vision of Seville, fostering an artistic community and a channel for creative expression.
The exhibition can be visited on Maravillas Street, with specific opening hours: Tuesdays from 08:20 to 16:00, Wednesdays from 08:30 to 24:00, and from Thursday to Sunday from 08:30 to 00:30.
“"Its objective is to create a community of professional Sevillian artists and illustrators, and to provide them with a channel where they can express, with total creative and technical freedom, their own vision of the city through the creation of a cover that reflects their own style, personality, and artistic voice."
