Testimonies collected on digital platforms describe the event vividly: "Explosive, the building shook like a reed," or "it's as if a giant kicked the ground," are some of the expressions used by Granadians to recount the force of the tremor.
First I heard the sound, it sounded like a heavy truck, then the tremor, the desk and the wardrobe moved. There are no structural damages and nothing fell, but the fright was palpable.
The National Geographic Institute (IGN) reported the earthquake via its X account (formerly Twitter) just two minutes after it occurred. The comments on the post quickly filled with testimonies from various towns in the Metropolitan Area, including Purchil, Churriana de la Vega, Cúllar Vega, Monachil, and Ogíjares, where the movement was strongly felt.
Many of those affected expressed surprise at the official magnitude of 3.6, given the intensity with which they felt it. Some even attributed to their pets the ability to predict the tremor, as they reportedly barked or made sounds minutes before. Others opted for humor to cope with the scare, like someone who thought it was a strong gust of wind.
