Socialist councilor Encarnación Aguilar points out that a single team of three people is responsible for handling all hymenopteran-related incidents in the city, which she deems insufficient given the scale of the problem. "There are over a hundred notices awaiting a response, and only three workers trying to reach homes, schools, and summer schools throughout the city," stated Aguilar, criticizing the lack of resources from Sanz's Government.
The PSOE maintains that this situation confirms their previous warnings about the deterioration of facilities and the inadequacy of resources for the service. The socialist councilor highlighted that the lack of planning and pest control contracts is causing plagues to directly affect families and educational centers.
Aguilar expressed particular concern for educational centers with summer schools, where problems with cockroaches and rodents have been reported. She emphasized the need for year-round planning and prevention, criticizing the City Council for reacting late to predictable situations like the proliferation of insects in summer.
The party recalls that the municipal government has been announcing an investment of around 500,000 euros for a specific disinfection, disinfestation, and deratization (DDD) contract for three years, with its processing now seemingly being pushed in August, when summer incidents would have already occurred. "Sanz has been promising this contract for three years and now seems to be releasing it in August. But August is too late to prevent summer plagues," she criticized.
Finally, the PSOE calls for an "immediate reinforcement of the Zoosanitary staff," an extraordinary plan to reduce pending notices, urgent actions in affected schools, and explanations regarding the DDD contract. Aguilar concluded that the lack of municipal planning and resources is impacting workers, families, and educational centers.
