The brotherhood of La Soledad of San Buenaventura has announced a detailed program of events to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the blessing of its titular image, Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, which is being commemorated this year (1851-2026).
One of the central events will be an extraordinary 'besamanos' (a devotional act where the faithful venerate the image at close range) on June 20th and 21st, which will present a special tableau of the image. The full list of liturgical and cultural activities planned for the coming months includes the presentation of a commemorative poster on June 20th.
The celebrations will continue in October with a conference titled '175 years of an unprecedented iconography in Seville: Mary's Solitude at the foot of the cross', led by Guillermo Sánchez, on October 23rd at the church. In November, the Archbishop of Seville, José Ángel Saiz Meneses, will preside over an extraordinary thanksgiving service on the 13th at 1:00 PM in the church of San Buenaventura.
Additionally, a new processional march composed by Pablo Ojeda will premiere, with its date yet to be determined.
