The President of the Provincial Council, Francis Rodríguez, accompanied by the mayor of El Pinar, Mercedes Moreno, visited the Granada town this Sunday to assess the fire's consequences firsthand. Rodríguez emphasized that, fortunately, the fire caused no personal injuries, a fact he described as "great news" given the terrain conditions and strong winds during the firefighting efforts.
Rodríguez highlighted the "great coordinated work" among the Infoca Plan personnel, the Provincial Council's firefighters, and the resources from assisting town halls. He stressed the importance of having "necessary resources" to prevent incidents like this, occurring in "one of the most significant forest masses in the province," from becoming a "tragedy".
The provincial president announced the allocation of €30,000 for the municipality of El Pinar. These funds will be used to replace affected irrigation lines and reinforce local hydrants. Furthermore, he emphasized the "obligation to strengthen resources" so that members of the Fire Department and Infoca can work with "greater guarantees" and "efficiency" in future incidents.
For her part, Mayor Mercedes Moreno expressed the municipality's sorrow for "living through a fire like four years ago again," noting that the town is "very sad." She confirmed that while there were "no personal tragedies," the fire had scorched "abandoned properties".
