The fire broke out in a truck on the A-44, heading towards Granada, between kilometers 171 and 181. The incident prompted the intervention of Motril Firefighters and the Infoca Plan, which deployed a large operation to contain the flames and prevent them from reaching the surrounding vegetation.
According to sources from the 112 Andalusia Emergency service, over thirty calls were received reporting the incident around 12:50 PM. As a safety measure and to facilitate firefighting efforts, one of the highway lanes was closed.
Traffic Civil Guard, firefighters, Road Maintenance personnel, and Infoca resources were dispatched to the scene. The firefighting operation included two helicopters, a forest firefighter group, an operations technician, an environmental agent, and a Wildfire Fighting Reinforcement Brigade (Brica).
The fire has caused notable traffic delays.
