The 48th edition of the Mar de Alborán Regatta, a scoring event for the Andalusian Offshore Championship, has concluded with 'UXAMA' taking the victory. The competition, which set sail from the marina of the Real Club El Candado, brought together a dozen boats that contended with challenging sailing conditions.
The regatta, which took place on Friday, May 15th, began with strong southwesterly winds exceeding 20 knots, prompting a delay in the start. Subsequently, the weather conditions shifted towards lighter winds and periods of calm, demanding significant strategy and patience from the participants.
In the ORC2 category, the vessel 'OBSESSION', skippered by Stephen Lawson of the Yacht Club of Gibraltar, secured the top spot. However, in the ORC1 category and the overall absolute classification, the triumph belonged to 'UXAMA', skippered by Pablo Valenzuela, closely followed by 'CABO NEGRO TRES', helmed by Juan Febrero of the Real Club El Candado.
The organizing committee expressed gratitude to the sponsors and collaborators, including the Málaga City Council, Candado Beach, Boston, Base Sistemas, Ayre Estates, Repsol, Cementos Cosmos, the Port Authority, and CaixaBank, whose support is crucial for promoting nautical sports in the region.
