The Independent and Civil Servants Central Union (CSIF) has denounced "extreme working conditions and insalubrity" at the Local Police's Control and Transmission Center (Cecop) in Sevilla, demanding its immediate closure due to heat and a possible toxic gas leak.

The CSIF union has alerted about the worrying situation at Sevilla's Cecop, located at the La Ranilla police station. They report a room without air conditioning during a heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 27ºC, and two workers being intoxicated by an undetermined substance or gas from a nearby area.
According to CSIF, the Cecop's central air conditioning system has been broken for "months". The provisional solution with portable units has left wiring and cooling tubes obstructing evacuation routes, in addition to generating "high noise levels". This risk situation had already been previously reported without being addressed.
Officers assigned to the room were moved to the so-called Crisis Room, whose characteristics are "inadequate" for their task of handling phone calls and radio services, as it was designed only for occasional meetings. Last Tuesday, an air conditioning failure in this room caused another episode of "thermal stress", exceeding 27ºC, which constitutes a "flagrant breach" of Royal Decree 486/1997.
On July 29th, a Cecop worker had to be evacuated to a hospital after suffering symptoms consistent with inhaling an unknown substance or gas. Another colleague also felt unwell. Firefighters intervened in the emergency, but CSIF is unaware of the analysis results and whether the polluting source persists.
Given these events, CSIF requests the Sevilla City Council the "immediate" closure of the Cecop room, the Crisis Room, and adjacent offices until the absence of toxicity is guaranteed. They demand an urgent occupational risk assessment and provisional measures to protect the health of the agents.
