On June 8, Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium will be the venue for an important religious event featuring Pope Leo XIV. This gathering, part of his visit to Spain, will include performances by prominent artists such as David Bustamante, Daniel Diges, and Diana Navarro.
Joining them will be musicians and figures from Catholic music, including Luis Alfredo, Chito Morales, and Maite López. The musical program also anticipates performances by the Cruz Diez Symphony Orchestra, the Pop Salesianos band, and choreographer Ismael Olivas with his dancers.
A central element of the event will be the Madrid Church Family Choir, a group comprising 1,000 singers, 300 of whom are children, accompanied by 70 musicians and 100 dancers. This choir will be directed by diocesan priest Toño Casado, parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Pilar.
The musical repertoire, designed to accompany the prayer and diocesan celebration, will include compositions by classical and contemporary authors, from Beethoven to Kiko Argüello. A highlight will be the performance of the anthem Alza la mirada, a work specifically created for this papal visit.
