Last week, various actions began at the facilities of the San Lorenzo Cemetery and continue this week. These works are part of an investment of 25,000 euros made by the City Council to ensure the Ronda cemetery is in perfect condition for the celebration of All Saints' Day, when thousands of people visit their deceased relatives.
According to the municipal delegate for Public Works, Concha Muñoz, the actions have focused on improving painting, carrying out repairs and cleaning on the roofs, and enhancing the garden areas.
Furthermore, Muñoz announced that efforts are underway to obtain subsidies from the Central Government and the Regional Government of Andalusia, intended to address the impact of storm systems. 100,000 euros have been secured for a project to adapt different cemetery courtyards. This project includes the restoration of the municipal ossuary, the chapel's roof, and courtyards 1 and 2, where all roofs will be restored and the worst-affected niches will be worked on. These works are planned to commence at the beginning of next year.
Finally, it has been reported that, starting from late October, the visiting hours for the San Lorenzo Cemetery will be extended. It will not close during the central hours of the day in the last week of the month, thus facilitating visits at any time.
