The event aims to highlight Iberian ham, its territories, producers, and the gastronomic culture associated with it. The initiative, driven by Enrique Tomás, aspires to become a benchmark annual event.
Eight finalist producers from Guijuelo, Jabugo, Extremadura, and Los Pedroches will compete for the title of 'Best Ham in the World'. Among them are Chacinerías Díaz, Aljomar, Consorcio de Jabugo, Micsa (Hnos. Velázquez), Señorío de Montanera, Montesano, Ibedul, and Sierra Morena.
The 'Ham Lovers' awards will recognize personalities for their connection to the product. Honorees include Fran Rivera, Tana Rivera, El Turronero, Joan Manuel Serrat, the mayor of Ronda, Brad Pitt, Georgina Rodríguez, Antonio Banderas, David Bisbal, and Elsa Pataky. The medal ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 5th.
The Convento de Santo Domingo will be the main venue, offering the public the opportunity to meet producers, taste the product, and enjoy ham culture. Entry to the tasting experience will cost 15 euros.
Visiting hours will be Friday, September 4th, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM; Saturday, September 5th, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM; and Sunday, September 6th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
