The Virgen de la Paz University Center, located next to the El Fuerte industrial estate, welcomed the more than 250 students who will pursue the Nursing Degree. The course commencement ceremony was attended by the Councilor for Universities, Margarita Pavía, who welcomed the students, wishing them a fruitful academic and personal stage in the city.
Also present at the event were the academic director, Antonio Flores; the deputy director of Quality and Mobility, Juan Antonio López; and the deputy academic director, responsible for Internships and secretary of the Center, Mercedes Carrasco. Councilor Pavía highlighted the diverse origins of the students, many of them from other parts of Andalusia and Spain.
Furthermore, the municipal delegate for Universities announced the City Council's plans for the creation of a future Faculty of Health Sciences in Ronda. This new faculty, which will be located in part of the old, disused Regional Hospital, will offer degrees in Nursing and Physiotherapy. The project has the support of the Junta de Andalucía, which has ceded the facilities, and the Malaga Provincial Council for funding.
