The municipal delegate for Education, Cristina Durán, has described the Summer School of the Municipal School of Music and Dance (EMMD) of Ronda as a "resounding success". The initiative, which saw the participation of around one hundred children aged 3 to 12 over five weeks, was developed under the project "La Gran Manada: Growing together to the rhythm of the jungle". This program combined music, dance, theater, and creativity, inspired by the story of The Jungle Book.
The summer school served as an important resource for balancing family and work life during the summer period. The City Council has maintained affordable prices to facilitate access to this educational offering for all families in Ronda, as highlighted by councilwoman Durán.
Durán emphasized the school's innovative nature, which has merged leisure with musical learning and the transmission of values such as companionship, empathy, respect, and teamwork. Participants engaged in music workshops, body expression, set design, creation of recycled instruments, and choreography, in addition to learning about the instruments taught at the EMMD.
Professor Javier Carmona explained that the project presented an educational challenge by integrating numerous children with no prior musical training into a collective experience based on music and culture. He thanked families for their trust and announced that the work developed during the summer will continue next academic year, aiming to complete the musical and premiere it in October.
