The festive day in Cartajima began in the afternoon with a street parade by the Municipal Music Band of Ronda. Subsequently, parish priest D. Andrés Conde officiated a mass in honor of the Patron Saint. After the religious ceremony, the image of the Virgin, known as the 'little' Virgin, was carried in procession on its restored throne, accompanied by numerous residents and the music band.
This year, the Virgen del Rosario wore a new Marian chasuble and a covering cloth for the throne's table. The procession toured the municipality, culminating with the installation of inflatable attractions, a festival with live music, and bar service for attendees, who enjoyed an evening in good company.
It is noteworthy that Cartajima has two images of the Virgen del Rosario. The 'little' Virgin, acquired after the Spanish Civil War when the previous image was destroyed, used to be paraded every October 7th until 1962. The celebration was then suppressed due to the emigration of many residents. Over a decade ago, the traditional feast was revived, and since then, the image has returned to procession.
The second image of the Virgen del Rosario, a replica of the one destroyed in 1936, was acquired in 1962. This image is carried by residents during the August fair, a date moved in the 1960s to allow more residents to attend. This fair is considered the main festival of Cartajima.
The Cartajima Town Council has expressed its gratitude to all those who have collaborated in the organization and execution of the Day of the Virgen del Rosario.
