The events will begin at 6:30 PM with a street parade by the Municipal Music Band of Ronda. Subsequently, a solemn mass will be held in honor of the Patron Saint. After the mass, the image of the Virgin, known as the "little" Virgin, will be carried in procession on its restored throne. The procession will be accompanied by numerous residents and the music band.
Following the procession, Virgen del Rosario Square will host inflatable attractions and a festival with live music and bar service, extending the celebration for several hours.
Cartajima has two images of the Virgen del Rosario. The "little" Virgin was paraded annually from shortly after the Spanish Civil War until 1962, when the celebration was suppressed due to the significant emigration of residents. Over a decade ago, the traditional festival was revived, and the image once again processes through the town.
The second image, acquired in 1962, is a replica of the one destroyed in 1936. This Virgin is carried through the town during the August fair, a date moved in the 1960s to allow more residents to attend.
The Cartajima Town Council invites all residents and people from other municipalities to participate in this special celebration.
