The Mayor of Vícar, Antonio Bonilla, has announced the commencement of public lighting renovation works in the neighborhoods of La Envía, La Villa, and Llanos de Vícar. This project is part of the Municipal Exterior Lighting Singular Projects Program and is supported by aid from IDAE (Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy) and MITECO, subsidized by the National Energy Efficiency Fund, for an amount exceeding 800,000 euros.
The lighting renovation will lead to improved energy efficiency with an estimated expenditure saving of around 45%. "This is important news for all the residents of these three neighborhoods, where visibility and outdoor lighting will be enhanced with more sustainable and lower-impact technology," stated the mayor. The work, which began after the agreement was signed on October 26, has a maximum execution period of twelve months.
In total, 1,102 light points will be replaced with higher efficiency LED technology equipment. This measure will not only generate energy savings for the municipal budget but also contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and light pollution.
Through this initiative, coordinated with other administrations, the Vícar City Council takes another step towards modernizing the municipality.
