The municipality of El Ejido has launched its Beach Plan for the 2026 season, which will be in effect from June 19th to September 6th. The initiative seeks to guarantee a safe, accessible, sustainable, and high-quality coastline for both residents and visitors.
The plan includes a significant increase in human and material resources, along with new actions to optimize the user experience. The goal is to solidify the municipality as a prominent tourist destination, maintaining its quality and sustainability certifications, such as Blue Flags and Ecoplayas certifications.
In terms of safety and rescue, the plan will feature 52 lifeguards, three more than the previous year, supported by four Emergency Health Technicians. There will be 17 surveillance towers, 14 rescue modules, police vehicles, a zodiac-type boat, and two jet skis. Additionally, the 'Plan Verano Seguro 360' will deploy four daily police patrols for beachside surveillance.
Accessibility improvements include a new metal walkway connected to the flexi-walkway, expanding the adapted bathing area with 22 seats, shade, and access to the water. Colorblind flags indicating sea conditions are increased, and services like amphibious chairs and crutches are maintained.
Regarding cleanliness, a team of 16 operators, including specialists in beach machinery, will manage maintenance. A tractor with a beach cleaner, utility vehicles, a high-pressure washer van for showers, and a daily waste collection truck will be used to ensure daily upkeep.
The seasonal offerings are expanded with new locations for beach bars and sunbed areas, particularly on Poniente and San Miguel beaches, in addition to existing services in Balerma and Almerimar.
The plan incorporates various awareness campaigns. In health, the 'Salud a pie de Playa' (Health at the Beach) initiative will focus on sun protection. Environmentally, the 'Mi playa bonica' (My Beautiful Beach) campaign and educational workshops will promote environmental care, alongside a dune conservation project and the 'Aquí Salvamos Tortugas' (Here We Save Turtles) initiative.
As a new feature, the interactive children's game 'Marco Topo' is introduced, a family-friendly activity to playfully discover the municipality's key sites.
