The Municipal Sports Institute of El Ejido has celebrated the closing of the 2025-2026 course for its Municipal Sports Schools. The final competitions and exhibitions marked the end of a season that saw the participation of a total of 2,722 students across the nineteen offered sports disciplines. The events were also attended by parents and family members and included a healthy snack courtesy of McDonald’s.
During the closing ceremonies, medals and recognitions were awarded to the young athletes. The sports disciplines offered this course included athletics, modern dance, basketball, cycling, 7-a-side football, futsal, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatic gymnastics, judo, karate, multisport, mountaineering, paddle tennis, taekwondo, tennis, rowing, canoeing, triathlon, and volleyball.

The Sports Councilor, María José Martín, highlighted the course's results and thanked families for their support. She emphasized the importance of sports in the holistic development of minors and stated that the IMD works to improve the program each season, aiming to meet the needs and interests of young people.
The Municipal Sports Schools utilized various facilities throughout the course, including the Santo Domingo Stadium, sports halls in El Ejido, Santa María del Águila, Las Norias, Balerma, and San Agustín, the Multipurpose Hall of Matagorda, educational centers such as Almerimar, Ramón y Cajal, Diego Velázquez, and Ciavieja, football fields in Balerma, Santa María del Águila, and Las Norias, the ‘Cañada de Ugíjar’ Peri-urban Park, the Rugby Field of Almerimar, the Multipurpose Center of Pampanico, Lago Victoria, and the Tennis Club and tennis courts next to the Rugby Field of Almerimar.
Attention is already turning to the next academic year, with pre-registration for the 2026/27 season opening on June 15.
