A 53-year-old man who was practicing sports at the Fernando Ruiz Hierro sports center in Vélez Málaga suddenly fell to the ground last Thursday at midday. The rapid action of a firefighter present at the facility, along with sports monitors and caretakers, was crucial in saving his life.
The 112 Emergency Service received the alert around 12:00 PM, warning of a possible heart attack. While the ambulance was en route, bystanders initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and used a defibrillator. These actions allowed the athlete to regain vital signs before being transported to the Hospital de Vélez Málaga by health services.
The coordination and rapid action of several people in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) saved the life of an athlete who suddenly collapsed at the Vélez Málaga sports center.
This incident is reminiscent of another event that occurred just over a week ago on Malagueta beach in Málaga city, where officers from the Local Police and a nurse saved a drowning person. The officers used the defibrillator from their vehicle and assisted in the resuscitation until the arrival of the 061 health services.
