The election took place last Sunday, May 10, at the Casa del Carnaval, where the sole presented candidacy received the necessary support. The new leadership team has pledged to review the Official Carnival Group Contest (COAC), promote the youth category, and consolidate the Casa del Carnaval as a key cultural venue.
Among the new team's priorities are the development of the Carnival in Schools program, designed to bring the celebration closer to educational centers, and the organization of performance series in various city locations. In the competitive sphere, they will analyze prize amounts and seek to strengthen youth participation and talent development.
“"I want to bid farewell by sincerely thanking you for these years of work, dissemination, and support for the Málaga Carnival. Many times, it is you who make a song, a story, or a moment reach much further than where it originates."
The outgoing president concluded his term with a message of gratitude and unity addressed to the carnival community. He highlighted the importance of citizen participation in promoting the festival and acknowledged the inherent complexities of its organization, emphasizing that, above all, the love for culture and celebration prevails.
“"I know that Carnival is not always easy. It has its debates, its differences, and its complicated moments, but above all is the festival, its people, and the love for our culture."
Furthermore, the outgoing president urged the community to continue supporting the new leadership team, fostering a constructive spirit, and advocating for a Málaga Carnival that still has great potential for growth. He stated that the festival requires both criticism and unity, as well as the commitment of those who believe in it, and assured that he would remain involved in the celebration from a non-institutional capacity.
