The referee, who was promoted from Primera RFEF to Segunda División in the same season as Málaga CF, has a history with the blue-and-white team. With him on the field, the Málaga team remains undefeated overall, although results at La Rosaleda have mostly been draws. He officiated a match against Ceuta (1-1) in the third tier and, in LaLiga Hypermotion, has overseen draws against Mirandés (1-1) and Leganés at home. He has also officiated away wins against Sporting de Gijón (1-3) and Cartagena (0-1).
In the match against Leganés, Muresan Muresan had to make complex decisions, such as the one that resulted in a yellow card for Juan Soriano for leaving the area during a counter-attack.
“"I am very grateful to have been at a great club like Málaga, it is a club I will cherish for my entire life."
Former Málaga CF coach José Alberto López will return to La Rosaleda as manager of Racing de Santander. The Cantabrian team arrives at the match having secured promotion to the top flight and with the objective of winning to be crowned league champions. López expressed his gratitude for his time at the Málaga club and praised the team's current performance under Funes, highlighting the quality of the players.
The Racing coach also mentioned the good relationship he maintains with the current reserve team coach of Málaga, Juanfran, and highlighted the talent of Málaga's young academy players, naming Chupe, Larrubia, Dani Lorenzo, Izan Merino, and Joaquín, whom he sees as having First Division potential.
