The friendly match played last Friday at the Alfonso Murube stadium in Ceuta has had negative consequences for Malaga CF. In addition to the defeat, the encounter has resulted in two significant injuries: midfielder Carlos Dotor and defender Fernando Calero. The club has officially announced the conditions of both players, who will be definitely unavailable for the league opener at the Metropolitano.
Regarding Carlos Dotor, the medical report confirms a "grade I injury to the medial collateral ligament of his right knee". This is a minor sprain that will require an estimated recovery period of 2 to 3 weeks, keeping him out of competition during that time.
Fernando Calero's injury is more serious. Medical tests indicate that the blanquiazul center-back suffers from "costal fractures in the left 9th, 10th, and 11th ribs". This type of injury typically involves a recovery period of over a month, potentially extending to two months, depending on the healing process.
This situation could mean that the only reinforcement to date for the central defense might miss up to seven matches before the first league break, scheduled for September 20th. Calero could return in October, after this break.
