Medical tests have determined that Fernando Calero has fractures in his 9th, 10th, and 11th left ribs. Meanwhile, Carlos Dotor has a Grade I injury to the medial collateral ligament of his right knee. The club stated that both players' return to team dynamics will depend on their respective evolutions.
Calero's injury is considered more severe and painful, as he was expected to be a regular starter in defense. Málaga CF's squad already faces other defensive absences, including Murillo and Álex Pastor, as well as Moussa Diarra.
The defender is expected to be out for approximately one month, although the club has not provided specific timelines recently. The midfielder might return slightly sooner if all goes well. Coach Juanfran Funes has more options in midfield than in the central defense.
The team recently concluded their training camp in Estepona and played two consecutive friendly matches against Al-Arabi and AD Ceuta FC. The latest training session included a technical talk, physical activation, group drills, and tactical work with the ball.
Juan Cruz completed the session normally, while Dotor and Calero underwent specific treatment in the stadium's indoor facilities. Aaron Ochoa performed partial work in the gym, and Juanpe did partial training. Murillo and Moussa Diarra continue with their recovery processes.
The team will train again tomorrow in the Anexo facility, in the session preceding the Trofeo Costa del Sol match against England's Fulham FC next Wednesday at 21:00 at the Estadio La Rosaleda.
