Sporting de Gijón has officially announced the termination of its contractual relationship with its coach at the end of the current campaign. This agreement comes despite the coach still having another year on his contract, and it has been made public just before the important match they will play against Málaga CF at La Rosaleda.
The decision, a result of a joint analysis between the club and the coach, aims to be the most favorable for both parties. The coach arrived at the Asturian team in October, during a critical period, managing to turn the situation around and bring the team closer to the play-off positions. However, recent results in the second half of the season have led to this outcome.
“"Real Sporting de Gijón and coach Borja Jiménez have reached an agreement to terminate their contractual relationship at the end of the current season. The club and the coach, after having analyzed the situation in recent weeks, conclude that this decision is the most favorable for both parties."
Málaga CF, for its part, is playing for its last chances for direct promotion and to consolidate its position in the play-off spots. Meanwhile, the Asturian team arrives in Martiricos with their season already settled, focusing on planning for the next season without their current coach.
The club has expressed its gratitude to the coach for the work done since his arrival and has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen the squad to return the team to the desired category.
