The Malaga port received the cruise ship Celebrity Apex this Monday, August 10th, considered one of the most avant-garde in the international cruise fleet. This ship, part of a series of five sister vessels, draws attention with its distinctive orange exterior elevator, located on the starboard side.
This elevator, known as 'The Magic Carpet', has dimensions similar to a tennis court and not only serves as a boarding area but also offers passengers various activities, functioning as a bar terrace or a stage for musical performances.
The Celebrity Apex, measuring 306 meters in length and with 16 decks, is also distinguished by its 1,306 cabins with 'Infinite Veranda', large windows where the upper half automatically slides down, transforming the cabin into a spacious terrace. This innovative design reduces the number of standard balcony cabins and increases glazed spaces.
On its third visit to the port of Malaga, the ship docked at the north pier of the eastern maritime station. It arrived with 3,199 passengers and 1,310 crew members, on a 15-day itinerary that began and will end in Southampton, England, with stops in Leixoes, Lisbon, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Ibiza, Malaga, La Coruña, and Bilbao.
While not a ship of massive dimensions, the Celebrity Apex stands out for its innovative design, which has earned it the international nickname 'the exterior elevator ship'.
