Marisa Martín Blázquez, a commentator known for her role in the program Fiesta on Telecinco, felt compelled to publicly defend herself against attacks concerning her physical appearance. These remarks, originating from a former acquaintance, criticized alleged cosmetic procedures and changes to her face.
Faced with these disparaging comments, Martín Blázquez chose to share personal information to raise awareness about the unknown stories behind every individual. Visibly moved, she revealed she suffers from myasthenia gravis, a rare, chronic, autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes severe muscle weakness.
The journalist detailed how this condition impacts her daily television work, noting that the left side of her face is affected. She explained that, at times, the show's production must focus only on her right side due to disease flare-ups, which can lead to temporary facial distortion.
Martín Blázquez clarified that she uses aesthetic medicine to mitigate the facial asymmetry caused by her condition and to feel better about herself. She emphasized her goal to even out her facial features, adding that she also simply "likes to be prettier," thereby refuting malicious criticism.
The 'Fiesta' co-host also mentioned the side effects of her medication, including inflammation from corticosteroids. Her courageous testimony garnered unanimous support from her colleagues on set, acknowledging her resilience in the face of adversity.
