IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND has been honored with the Health Award at the XIII edition of the Málaga Awards, awards that recognize the trajectory and contribution of individuals, institutions, and entities to the development and progress of the province. The award highlights the Institute's commitment to translational research, aimed at transforming scientific advances into new diagnostic methods, more effective treatments, and prevention strategies to improve patient health.
The scientific director of IBIMA, Francisco J. Tinahones, accepted the award on behalf of the Institute. He emphasized the collective nature of this recognition, extending it to the more than 1,600 professionals who make up IBIMA, including researchers, technical staff, and management teams. Their work covers areas such as oncology, hematology, neurosciences, metabolic diseases, and chronic pathologies.
Tinahones dedicated the award to the thousands of patients participating in clinical studies and to patient associations, stressing that their involvement is crucial for science, innovation, and the development of new therapies. He also acknowledged the work of volunteers from IBIMA's newly created Social Impact Unit and the support of public institutions.
The scientific director thanked La Opinión de Málaga and Prensa Ibérica for their commitment to research, concluding that "research is progress, biomedical research is health." This award reinforces IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND's commitment to excellent biomedical research to offer solutions to society's health challenges.
