The Centre Pompidou Málaga was the venue for the conference titled ‘Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs): increasing incidence’, delivered by infectious diseases specialist Manuel Castaño Carracedo, a physician at the Regional University Hospital of Málaga and researcher at IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND.
During his presentation, Castaño addressed the increased incidence of STIs and the main challenges in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and awareness. He emphasized the importance of early detection and consultation for potential risky situations, as some infections may initially be asymptomatic.
The session also served to review prevention measures, the need for adequate information on sexual health, avoiding risky behaviors, and consulting healthcare professionals. The importance of continuing to advance in public awareness and normalizing medical consultations for these infections was highlighted.
With an educational approach, Castaño answered questions about the prevention and management of STIs, including a space for debate and participation with the attending audience.
The next conference in the Talks HRUM cycle will take place on November 4th at the same venue and will focus on the ‘Use of screens in Pediatric and adult populations’, delivered by María Vidal Denis, a Radiology specialist at the Regional University Hospital of Málaga.
