European Mobility Week 2026 takes place from September 16 to 22 with the aim of raising awareness about the negative consequences of excessive car use in cities and promoting the use of more sustainable transport modes such as public transport, cycling, and walking.
Under the slogan 'Mobility for all people', the initiative seeks to reflect on how intergenerational collaboration can make mobility more inclusive. An information sheet and a manual on how to organize a car-free day have been published.
The Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Area of Malaga actively participates to increase the use of public transport. The Car-Free Day, on September 22, will focus on raising awareness about the environmental impact of excessive use of motorized vehicles.
During the week, various activities will be carried out, including the XIV Digital Photography Contest 'Aim at Public Transport', social media contests with transport cards as prizes, and student visits to the facilities of the operator Avanza.
The IV Award Call for public transport company workers will also be held to recognize professional careers. As a novelty, on September 22, journeys paid for with a mobile phone on lines affiliated with CTMAM and in the Rincón de la Victoria urban transport will be free.
Additionally, free transfers will be offered using a mobile phone on Avanza and Rinconbús lines throughout Mobility Week. For more information, you can consult the Consorcio Málaga mobile app, the official website, social media, or call 955 038 665.
