The Andalusian Federation of Fishing Associations (FAAPE) has requested the president of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, to continue current fishing policies, highlighting the work of the Ministry.

The Andalusian Federation of Fishing Associations (FAAPE) has joined the support for policies promoted by the Regional Government of Andalusia, following the lead of the agricultural sector. In a letter addressed to President Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, the federation requests the maintenance of the current line of work in Andalusian fishing management, led by Minister Ramón Fernández-Pacheco and his team.
The fishing organization emphasizes the progress achieved through close collaboration between the regional administration and sector representatives. This cooperation has enabled the articulation of common positions and the unified defense of Andalusian fishing interests before national and European institutions. FAAPE, chaired by José María Gallart, highlights the effectiveness of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Consultation Board as a space for dialogue and participation.
The continuity of this strategy is considered crucial for the negotiation of the new European Union Financial Multiannual Framework and potential changes in the Common Fisheries Policy. The Andalusian fishing sector faces challenges such as the profitability of companies, generational renewal, digitalization, administrative simplification, and international competition.
Andalusia ranks as the second-largest fishing community in Spain, with 1,397 boats and 14,721 associated jobs, reflecting its economic and social weight. The activity generates approximately 52,000 tons of annual catches.
In this context, FAAPE considers it fundamental to maintain dialogue channels and stability within the management teams of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development. They reiterate their willingness to collaborate with the Regional Government of Andalusia to ensure the future of this strategic activity.
