The Sala Pescadería Vieja in Jerez has opened its doors to the exhibition 'Cinco miradas paralelas', a collective show displaying the work of artists Magdalena Bachiller, Isabel Andrada Vanderwilde, Paco de la Matta, Felipe Candel, and Rafael Zapatero. The exhibition, curated by Bernardo Palomo, can be visited until June 27.
The participating creators are part of the artistic collective 'Los Invisibles', founded in January 2023 at the Fundación Valentín de Madariaga y Oya in Seville. This group was established to give visibility to Andalusian artists with long careers, often working outside mainstream trends and media attention.
The inauguration event was also attended by the deputy mayor, Agustín Muñoz, and the delegate for Culture, Francisco Zurita, along with other figures from the city's cultural and artistic scene.
Mayoress García-Pelayo highlighted Jerez's creative dynamism and reaffirmed the municipal commitment to supporting the plastic arts. "Jerez is a city deeply connected to culture in all its expressions. Our responsibility is to continue creating spaces for creation, exhibition, and encounters between artists and citizens, because culture is part of our identity and also our future," she stated.
She further emphasized that "exhibitions like 'Cinco miradas paralelas' foster the city's cultural life and help project an image of Jerez open to creativity, talent, and contemporary artistic dialogue."
Visiting hours are Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. On Saturdays, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM. The venue will be closed on Mondays, Sundays, and public holidays.
