The Demarcación de Costas Andalucía Atlántico, under the Ministry for Ecological Transition, will begin regeneration works on Santa María del Mar beach with an extraordinary sand supply on June 22. The objective is to reinforce the coastline's stability following storm damage.
The intervention, requested by the Cádiz City Council, will use heavy machinery arriving on June 22 and transported to the beach. Sand pumping from a marine dredge will start on June 23, with works expected to conclude between June 28 and 30.
During the operations, access will be limited to a 200-300 meter section in the beach's central area, which will progressively shift. Areas near the breakwaters will remain open. Work will occur in three daily shifts, potentially causing noise disturbances.
“"These works are necessary to improve the conditions of use for Santa María del Mar and ensure the beach recovers some of the sand lost after the storms."
The Cádiz City Council requests public understanding for temporary inconveniences and cooperation to avoid excessive crowds on the beach during the intervention period, as available free areas will be reduced. Temporary limitations for surf schools and water sports enthusiasts are also anticipated.
