The 9th Edition of ‘La Vaquera de la Finojosa’ has concluded with a resounding success in attendance and critical acclaim, establishing itself once again as the most emblematic cultural and social event in Hinojosa del Duque. For four consecutive nights, from July 30 to August 2, the monumental setting of the Plaza de la Catedral de la Sierra registered full capacity, with a significant presence of young attendees.
The general sentiment from the public and media following the performances has been unanimous: this ninth edition has successfully recaptured the essence of the early performances that, decades ago, marked the beginning of this cultural and popular endeavor. The impeccable acting work stood out for the collective commitment and dedication of the entire cast, who successfully conveyed an atmosphere of extraordinary harmony and camaraderie.
The splendor of the staging was the result of a careful artistic conjunction. Live music, under the direction of Miguel Cerro, and the display of dance and choreography, coordinated by Manoli Chaves, enchanted the audience. This was complemented by the dazzling costume design by Francisco Tamaral and majestic scenography by Juan Andrés Molero Cerro. The overall direction was led by Mónica González, with José Manuel Murillo serving as deputy director, who also captivated attendees by portraying one of the town's beloved characters, the architect Hernán Ruiz.
The closing ceremony took place after the final performance, featuring an institutional event attended by the mayor of Hinojosa del Duque, Matías González, along with council members. Director Mónica González addressed the audience and the artistic team, expressing her gratitude to the cast. Mayor Matías González defined Hinojosa del Duque as a 'town of theater' and conveyed his thanks.
The mayor publicly announced that, in commemoration of the play's 30th anniversary, it will be performed again in 2028. This announcement reaffirms the municipal commitment to local traditions and the cultural projection of a municipality that stands as a theatrical benchmark in Andalusia.
