The exercise, part of the continuous training programs of the Almería Command, began with an initial scenario of Immediate Neutralization against Sudden Attack (NIAS-SDA) and evolved into a simulated hostage situation, requiring the intervention of negotiators and specialized units.
During the drill, various operational scenarios were recreated to evaluate reaction capacity, inter-service coordination, and the application of established protocols for such threats. Activities included perimeter security, crisis management, victim assistance, and risk neutralization.
Personnel from different Civil Guard specialties participated, including Citizen Security, the Command Citizen Security Unit (USECIC), the PEGASO Team, the Canine Service, the Criminalistics Laboratory, the Information Group, specialized negotiators, and operational intervention staff. The exercise also involved collaboration from other public bodies and emergency services, such as the Local Police and the Andalusian Health Service.
“"These types of drills are fundamental to strengthening preparation and joint response to highly complex incidents, also allowing for the detection of areas for improvement and the refinement of decision-making mechanisms in critical scenarios."
The institution emphasizes the importance of continuous training for its units to ensure a rapid and effective intervention. The drill was directed by commanders and operational intervention specialists from the Civil Guard, with personnel from various territorial units of the Command.
The Civil Guard reminds citizens of the importance of remaining calm, following instructions from security services, evacuating danger zones in an orderly manner, respecting security perimeters, not spreading rumors, and reporting any suspicious behavior via 062 or 112, or through the Alertcops application.
