Port activities at the Port of Garrucha have been suspended since midday to facilitate the operation of hydroplanes. These aerial resources have been forced to relocate to this point on the Levante Almeriense coast due to a change in wind direction causing strong waves in the Vera area, preventing water collection at their usual site.
The firefighting operation against the wildfire, affecting Los Gallardos, has mobilized over 450 personnel. The Infoca Plan has 222 operatives, while the Military Emergencies Unit (UME) has deployed 200 soldiers. They are joined by about thirty local firefighters, 13 fire engines, and 30 aircraft.
The UME is working alongside Infoca and firefighter personnel on extinction efforts, protecting homes, and supporting the deployed device. The fire has already burned through a perimeter of 3,150 hectares, with efforts focused on containing active fronts and preventing flames from reaching populated areas.
