Traditional ceramic pieces from Úbeda displayed in a museum shop.
Traditional ceramics from Úbeda have achieved new international recognition by being selected for a project at the National Gallery in London, where their artisan pieces will be exhibited until August 2026.
The Alfar Pablo Tito workshop, located in Úbeda, is the protagonist of an exclusive initiative that is part of the exhibition dedicated to Francisco de Zurbarán at the prestigious London gallery. This exhibition, which brings together nearly 50 works by the master of Spanish Baroque, will be open to the public from May 2 to August 23, 2026.
The workshop was commissioned to design and create a unique collection of ceramic pieces, which are now available in the museum's official store. This proposal seeks to establish a dialogue between the rich artisan tradition of Úbeda and the pictorial universe of Zurbarán, merging elements typical of traditional pottery with recreations inspired by some of his most representative still lifes.
Each piece has been crafted entirely by hand and fired in a traditional Arab wood-fired oven, a technique that guarantees unique finishes and preserves methods passed down through generations.
The coordination and facilitation of these works' presence at the National Gallery has been made possible by Cocol, which has connected the work of the Úbeda workshop with one of the most prominent cultural institutions worldwide.
