Rincón de la Victoria is preparing to host the third edition of the Noctiluca Flamenco Festival, a cultural event scheduled for August 28, 29, and 30. The festival aims to solidify its position as a summer highlight in the province of Málaga.
The presentation featured the mayor, Francisco Salado (PP), the Councilor for Culture, Paz Couto (PP), festival director and dancer Susana Lupiáñez ‘La Lupi’, guitarist Curro de María, dancer Moisés Navarro, and master José Lucena. Activities will take place at the Sala de las Musas in La Cala del Moral, the Municipal Auditorium of Rincón de la Victoria, and the Center for the Interpretation of Malagueño Folklore in Benagalbón.
As a key novelty, Mayor Francisco Salado emphasized the integration of verdiales, presented by the Panda de Verdiales Primera de Benagalbón. "With this initiative, we reinforce the link between the Noctiluca Flamenco Festival and local traditions, incorporating one of the most representative cultural expressions of our land," he stated.
The mayor highlighted the festival's established presence, its ability to attract diverse audiences, and its role in promoting the municipality's cultural image, describing it as "a provincial cultural benchmark with growing national and international projection." The significance of flamenco as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was recalled, along with the festival's function as a driver for cultural tourism and local development.
Councilor for Culture, Paz Couto, stressed that the festival is a reference point, particularly for flamenco dance, which is its "essence and main identity." The program will include singers, dancers, guitarists, dance workshops, masterclasses, lectures on flamenco history in the Axarquía, and a large flamenco flashmob.
Susana Lupiáñez, the festival's director, expressed gratitude for institutional support and highlighted the artistic quality, with approximately 90% of artists being Andalusian. This edition will pay tribute to Patricia Guerrero, director of the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, with an honorary distinction.
Information regarding tickets, registrations, and schedules will soon be available on the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall website and social media. Tickets can be purchased at www.malagaentradas.com.
