The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has made a geographical error on one of its traffic maps for the August long weekend, mistakenly placing the Cordoban town of Montoro in the center of the Jaén province.

The province of Jaén, a key gateway to Andalusia, faces an August long weekend with over a million planned journeys across the autonomous community. The DGT has distributed maps to facilitate travel, but an error in the location of Montoro, a town in Córdoba, has caused confusion by placing it incorrectly in the center of the Jaén province.
This mistake is particularly evident on the map detailing the route along the A-4 motorway towards Seville from Madrid. The province of Jaén anticipates approximately 58,000 long-distance journeys this weekend, from Friday, August 14th, to Sunday, August 16th, as part of a special traffic operation. The total estimate for Andalusia is 1,178,100 journeys.
The roads expected to be most affected in Jaén province are the A-4, A-32, A-44, A-316, and N-322. The DGT has identified problem areas such as the A-4 between Bailén and La Carolina (kilometre points 292 and 264.2) and the A-44 passing through Bailén (kilometres 0 and 5).
Furthermore, ongoing works in the tunnels of La Cerradura and La Miel on the A-44 (between kilometre points 57.750 and 62.550) add to traffic complications. The DGT has established alternative routes, including the A-316, N-432, A-324, and A-401, as well as the N-323 to divert traffic affected by the tunnel works.
The special traffic operation, spanning three days, will deploy human and technical resources, including traffic management centers operating 24 hours, helicopters, and drones. Roads with the highest projected traffic volume in Andalusia include the A-4, A-44, A-45, A-49, A-66, A-7, and A-92, among others.
