These works, selected from nearly thirty submissions nationwide, come from young directors and producers from Jaén, Seville, Córdoba, Cádiz, and Girona. The teams recently participated in a training workshop held at the Old Hospital of San Juan de Dios in Jaén.
The workshop, which covered key areas such as screenwriting, production, and direction, was led by renowned film industry professionals. The deputy of Culture and Sports, África Colomo, visited the training sessions.
The finalist short films include: El penúltimo vigía, to be shot in Higuera de Calatrava and Torredelcampo; El valle, with settings in Huesa and the Valle de las Aldeas Perdidas de la Sierra de Segura; Equilátero, in Santa Elena; Las croquetas de la Paqui, in Lupión; Masa madre, in Fuerte del Rey; Muy lejos, in Santo Tomé; ¿Quién se casa en Jaén en junio?, in Noalejo; and Tómatelo con psicología, in Villatorres and Bedmar.
The projects will compete for a first prize of 3,000 euros and a trophy, in addition to the distribution of the winning short film at national and international festivals. The competition also includes a special jury prize of 1,000 euros, the Canal Sur Radio Televisión Award with broadcast on Canal Sur TV, and a special award for the best provincial short film of 1,000 euros. Recognition will also be given for best direction, acting, cinematography, screenplay, soundtrack, production, sound, and editing.
